Surabaya, July '09: Getting There!

You know what? Publishing my Singapore pictures reminded me that I haven't yet told you guys about what went down in Surabaya. Haha. Sorry lah. Procrastination's my invisible twin. And she's the one who usually calls the shots in this love-hate relationship we share. =p

ANYHOO, without much further delay,
I present you *drum roll* SURABAYA, JULY '09!

-------------

First thing we – and by "we" I mean MEL0dramatic, YapThomas and I – did in the morning before leaving for the airport? PANIC! Hahaha. Wanna know why? (That was rhetorical, by the way. Dun wan to know also I will tell so don't bother answering.) Cos NONE of us changed money. Hahahaha. Damn kau fail lah this convoy. =p We talked about how much we would need to prepare but none of us actually prepared any money to do what we planned on doing. Hahaha.

But! We made good soon enough. A call or two later found MEL0dramatic at Sunway Pyramid for some juta-juta Rupiah.

Millionaire sial! Dun mess. Rob him can buy...
uh, one McDonald's Value Meal. HAHAHA.

So, after making us millionaires by Indonesian standards, MEL0dramatic picked YapThomas up and they guided the taxi man to my place. This is Mr Taxi Man and his ride outside my house.

While still indoors, I took a final look-around my room and made a dash for the door. Got into the cab and ended up making one-and-a-half trips to the airport, no thanks to my bad memory. (One look-around the room also no use. I still forgot to bring my passport. -_-') But thank goodness, we still made it there in time. All hail taxi men who speed!

YapThomas and I rushing into the Departure Hall
with trigger-happy MEL0dramatic hot on our tails.

As far as I know, there are 3 ways you can check-in if you're flying with Malaysia Airlines – FYI, THEY SPONSORED OUR TRIP!!! *big-ass grin from ear to ear* (1) Internet/Online Check-In – super convenient! (2) Self Check-In via kiosks that are located near the physical counters at the airport – this is the on-the-spot DIY way. They look like this:

...or (3) go totally old school
with regular human interaction
at the physical counters.

Haha. We did that.

How 1990s of us.

*grin*

Anyhoo, since the line wasn't long, it meant we didn't really have to wait. Plus, we all had luggage to check-in so it was probably the easiest method to go by. Here's how heavy our luggage turned out to be.

Not too bad for 3 people lah, kan? We used up almost 8kg each only while in actual fact, we were allocated a back-breaking 20kgs EACH by MAS! And NO, my luggage didn't take up all the weight. Hmmph! We were pretty well divided in terms of luggage weight okayyy. Hmmph hmmph! Stop judging me laaa. You judge me for this, you're judging every girl who ever lived and/or packed bags for holidays. HMMPH!

*blink blink*

Wah, semacam ada PMS. Haha.

Ok ok, change topic! Let's talk FOOD!
(Penangites always have food
on the mind wan. In-built.)

Free drinks aside, we were served some pretty amazing food on-board our MAS flight to Surabaya. This was the spread:

Quite class leh. That's MH (Malaysian Hospitality) for you! Got Loackers and Ferrero Rocher summore. And the briyani rice was the bomb, I tell you. Wah, piang. I can almost smell it now. See picture also hungry. -_-''' But the endless flow of free drinks and food made lots of us hit the jamban (that's the "loo" in Malay for you Singaporeans) at the same time soon after.

Got to line up wan, man. Dun play play.

Actually, I pretend smile only wan.
Bladder going to burst already. Haha.

Nevermind. See blue skies.
Maybe bladder can relax.

HAHAHA. Yeah, right. As if blue skies have the power to stop pee. Haha. Damn, I'm so full of crap that I really dunno how you guys tahan me. I see also cannot tahan myself. Haha.

CHANGE TOPIC! Let's talk pretty sunsets!

This is what the inside of our cabin looked like.

Nice hor? It really glowed amber.
Like red, hot coals. Haha. Nice.

But after taking innate objects for awhile,
YapThomas and I decided to camwhore.

MEL0dramatic just buat macam babi khinzir (maaf, aku tak suke makan babi tapi aku pun tak berape halal -_-) and slept. The fella goes off light a light wan, man. Snap means off di. Haha. Good skill for a traveller actually. I take yonks to fall into slumber. Bad, bad, bad. Always end up with not enough sleep then my eyes look like this ---> =_=

Anyways, flights to Surabaya from KL usually take 2 hours and 40 minutes. So, while we snap-snap-snapped, time ticked, the plane continued flying, and before we knew it, we were jet-setting across Indonesian skies. Yays!

But as you can see, by the time we arrived, it was night time. Haha. All black. Cannot see anything on the way in but dancing city lights. They were pretty, though. =) Well, more stories to come lah, ok? Once I manage to sort through the pictures I've got on hand. Right now, this old woman needs to get off her comp seat to rest her aching back. -_-
