It's been awhile since I've doodled. 😊

I used to take sermon notes this way back in the day before smartphones and online sermons. Not sure where those notebooks have gone though. 🤔 They somehow got lost in my many moves around Penang, Selangor and KL. 😢 

Anyway, it felt really good to use my hands again

and go back to exercising my creative muscles. 💪

I Wish That...

1. Chemo didn't take quite so many moons to complete and that I was already done with treatment by now.

2. My cancer wasn't HER2+ so we didn't have to spend so much money and we would be done with treatment by Christmas instead of having it drag on till the 3rd quarter of 2020.

3. Renovating a home didn't take so long and wasn't this messy.

4. There were creative classes I could take here in Penang. Like calligraphy or oil painting or flower arrangement – something fun for me to indulge my creative side a little.

5. I had one of those vacuum mouths all those mukbangers seem to have. SLUUURRPPP!

It's Tough Being A 2019 Mommy

Growing up, we used to make origami lotus, balls, boats, hats and fishes in early to mid primary school. Dunno how to make? Just skip only – nobody there to teach and no YouTube videos to watch so just turn the page and get back to it when you're older/smarter/cleverer. 

It's only when you hit the double digits do you advance into cranes, frogs and dollar-bill hearts. If still loser, wait till you're in secondary school. Then maybe you'll be able to brain it by then. If still cannot, just give up la. It's ok. Ahh, I miss the simplicity of those days. 

Times have changed, though.

2019 origami is a different ballgame.

I bought a dinosaur origami set for the kids from Daiso. Thought can let them work on it while I rest. I'm proud to say that my kids are not bodoh la. My older boy takes instructions very well and my younger one is an origami fanatic. But guess what? Both stared at it blur blur, dunno what to do. 🤷‍♀️


At first I thought... how hard can it be la??? Just figure it out! Think! Follow the numbers! Follow the lines! Just do it! On your own! You shouldn't need my help! The pack doesn't have an age indication but it can't possibly be made for 12-year-olds, right?? You! Can! Do! It!

But, no. Turns out, even 35yo aunty 🙋‍♀️

Each dino uses two sheets of paper. And the paper got printing wan. And lines. And numbers. Not just blank sheets of coloured paper. But those lines and numbers aren't there to "help" per se, cos without them, it really isn't possible to make what you're intended to make. They're VITAL to the whole construction!


And it doesn't help that we didn't notice an instruction sheet before we started. 😂 It was only after numerous failed attempts at making the T-Rex that I went mental on the pack and subsequently found a thin sheet of white paper that contained building instructions. LOL. #fail

So since put in the effort already must show off.

Mother-Son One-To-One Tattoo Bonding Time

JJ decided that this afternoon, we would draw each other dino tattoos with the new Muji colour pens he received from Ah Ma and Ah Kong. So, like the good, tired, chemo-shot-up mom that I am, I agreed. So, draw dino tattoos, we did! I drew his and he drew mine.

I gave him a T-Rex, which I very uncreatively and unimaginatively named REX. 😂 Bagi chan la. It's Day 6 and I'm still aching from my last Nivestim™ shot of Chemo Round 2. This mom is tired max la. Just close one eye and move on, ok? 😅

JJ gave me a velociraptor and named it Travis.

He spelt its name all by himself! #proudmom

so this came as a wonderful surprise for me. 😍

A bee, a flower and a sun.

This boy may look all rough and tough on the outside but he's a real sweetheart kind of cuddly marshmallow on the inside. He's always making me things and drawing me stuff. 😘 But I wasn't the only one on the receiving end today.

The Husband received a

Though his Ah Kong received a nicer looking one

(much to The Husband's dissatisfaction). 😅

And Ah Ma got some pretty flowers. 🌸🌸

I don't know about everyone else on his love letter list but Imma keeping mine from now till forever because I know these days don't last a lifetime. They pass in a blink of an eye and before I know it, he'll grow up and grow out of this stage. Too soon, I'll get text messages and emoticons which, you must admit, aren't quite the same as a hand-drawn picture that comes in an envelope that says:

"IT IS for mI mummy." ❤️

JJ Gets Creative

JJ wanted an ice-cream today. I said, "No."

Sometimes really I wonder how he comes up with these excuses. Sometimes I wonder if he believes them, too. Haha. Most of the time, it amazes me. And most of all, I pity JZ for having to put up with it. Hahaha. 😅😂 #brothersforlife

pH Fun

An alkaline water salesman came over today and tried selling me the idea of drinking alkaline water. Good for health, he says. Higher antioxidants, he swore. Live longer and heal faster, he claims. Uh huh. Well, sorry la, Uncle, but I don't buy it. Haha. Trust me when I say that I had waaay more fun watching the water change colour than listening to what he had to say. =p

I lingered around on Pinterest for a bit, checking out that girl's board and then I somehow ended up on a page that just made my heart stop. In a good way. Look!

Wow.

It's actually quite humbling to see and realise that something so personal and meaningful to me has meant enough to so many other strangers that they felt it worthy enough to be pinned. But I guess it's because human emotion is universal. No matter where we're from, or what we look like. Inside, we're all the same. We all laugh and cry. We all love and miss.

The Price Of Old Christmas Wrappers

Had no choice this year but to use some old Christmas wrappers I'd accumulated and saved over the last decade cos I couldn't go shopping for new ones to help Mama wrap her Christmas gifts for the family. (Was still in confinement at the time ma. How to go shopping?) Ended up saving us some time and money... but paying the ultimate price:

MAAASSIVE ALLERGYYYYY!!!

All over my hands, palms, wrists, arms, neck, waist, joints... and don't even get me started on my confined behind. OMG, the itch! All through the night and then some! I only managed to get a little relief  – just a wee bit – 18 hours later, after a visit to the hospital and popping a Gynae-approved, breast-feeding-friendly antihistamine before my son's Full Moon dinner on Christmas Eve '12. Ugh. Suffer sial. Doubt I'll be touching those Christmas wrappers ever again. >(

...unless I forget come Christmas next year and

go digging through my decade-old wrapper stash. Again.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw them. Cos, like, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? Infant Granny Smith trees are freaking growing in my freaking home without me freaking knowing it!! =D =D =D LOOK!!!

Haha. I know, I know. It looks like taugeh. Trust me, I did a double take, too. But it couldn't have possibly been taugeh cos I don't eat taugeh so I don't cook taugeh so there wouldn't be any taugeh in my home. So it's gotta be Granny Smith seedlings. You'll agree with me when you see the seed.

I could have just washed them down the drain or tossed them into the bin but... ARE YOU MAD??? I would never!!! THESE ARE MY BABIES!! (Without little feet. -_-''') Thing is, I didn't have any soil in my home (the cost of living in high-rise buildings with no personal gardens) to keep them alive and growing so I planted them in the next best thing: Nutritious fruit pulp.

UPDATE AT 9:45AM ON 23 MARCH 2012: OMG, HELP!! I kept them indoors near the sink and one of the leaves is starting to brown! Does anybody know what kind of condition apple seedlings are supposed to be placed in?? Does anybody know if they can survive in Malaysian weather!?

The Husband Draws... Something

Playing Draw Something with people who can't draw anything makes for pretty weird Draw Something experiences that come with every turn. The Husband noticed me playing with other people on my iPhone 4s two weekends ago and decided he wanted in on the fun, too. So, he downloaded the free version on his iPod Touch to play with me. (As usual lah, Blackberry too fail to be able to play such cool games. =p) This was The Husband's latest submission:

Origami Google Doodle

Today, Google celebrates the 101th anniversary of the birth of Akira Yoshizawa – the man credited to be the grandmaster of origami. Over 50,000 models created but only a few hundred documented in his 18 books. What a great loss to the art world. I wish I could help in some way but... unfortunately, I can only fold a crane, a ball, a box, and a boat. Jumping frog also forget liao. :-/
