IKEA

Is it pronounced as ai-kee-ah or ee-kay-ah?

IMHO, the former is just the wanky American habit of pronouncing words that begin with the letter 'I' as "eye" (e.g. Eye-raq, Eye-ran)

But at least you also say it my way so not so bad. Haha. Means it's still not confirmed which one is right and which one is wrong. =p

I was curious too, so I googled and this came up...

http://forvo.com/word/ikea/

Anyway, I don't think knowing the real pronunciation really matters as different regions pronounce word forms differently due to their culture. As long as the people around you understand what you trying to say it's fine I guess since both pronunciation sound logical.

Btw, I pronounce the later, "Ee-Kay-ah"

– You awesome! That website is da bomb lah. It's official. OUR pronunciation is closer to the one online than the one that starts with 'eye'. YES!!! We win! Whoopie!

but in america they read it as eye-key-ya, because they r just being american have to be special abit, like how they pronounce iraq as eye-rack.
