She's Skinny But I Like It

My knees are weak, my legs are wobbly and my palms are sweaty. I feel the pounding in my temples as those palpitations in my heart... they continue relentlessly. I can't breathe and my breath is coming out short. They rip through my lungs in quick gasps. My head spins. It is light. Too light for comfort but that space in my head is too occupied with thoughts of other things, to complain or be too bothered about it.

Welcome to the world of
my latest pricey obsession.

*shiver up my spine*

Some design goddess with Earth-shattering love affairs with Zeus, Poseidon and Hades must have had a hand in this masterpiece or something. Look at it!

What a beauty.

How can something man-made look
so abso-frickin'-lutely fabulous???

But quite ex for what you get lah. It's not even just $1799. It's STARTING FROM Right? But then again, who's talking money here? We're talking beauty. And what matters in this crazy, mixed-up world is beauty. So starve yourselves and go hungry for this baby. At least you know that at the end of the day, and after all that self-induced starvation, you'll look like you and your MacBook Air were made for each other.

(Sorry lah. Too much work. No time to
work on nice nice comparison pictures.)

Anyway, the MacBook Air seems like a rich man's play thing to me. Sure, it's the third and latest MacBook model in the market. And sure, it's got the most updated versions ever of Apple’s award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications. And sure it's got full size screens and keyboards.

But... it's so small and tiny that it kinda makes it the kind of laptop you bring for holidays and such by default, you know? Doesn't have the many jacks I need for all my kalachang (i.e. external harddisk, speakers, mouse, thumbdrive, USB fan, cooling fan, network cable, etc...) so it doesn't seem very practical to me lah.

But that doesn't mean I don't want it.

World's thinnest notebook wor... who dun wan?

I was hoping they'll update the macbook pro, but instead they launched a laptop for the yuppies. Network plugin also don't have. what lar... Like that better get the ASUS Eee PC. Smaller even.

– Not so soon loh, I think. But this is pretty cool, no? And anyways, with so many young guys out there with money to burn, this is perfect for Apple to make some easy money.

And ya lah. I don't like the no network plugin also. That wan a bit lame. But with the size, you've gotta give a little lah.

Amazing....Apple shrinked everything, from the hard disk, processor, battery and mechanical dimensions.....they also hide the USB port, headphone jack and micro DVI...Wow! Wow! Wow!.....but hehe...Impracticalar for a demanding user.

The thing is, Apple also launched a lot of peripherals for MacBook Air. Those add-ons are for backward thinking, or so they said. The future is WiFi (there's no LAN cable in my office). But fret not, as there will be a USB 100/1000MBit network adaptor available from Apple also. There's external optical DVD writer also.

When they want to create something so small, something gotta give. Try imagine lugging a 5 lbs laptop all the time, and you might displace your shoulder.

ATTN: Adrian
– Well, yeah. I know. But that also means more money in order to do the same stuff you'd do with a regular MacBook or a MacBook Pro. And anyway, the more peripherals you have, the less mobile you become. So what's the point of making something small and light... but you have to carry truck-loads around?
