Wax Seal – Me Wants!

I wanna design my own wax seals cos I think that hot wax stamping's the bomb. What? Putting fire, hot wax, funky colours and a pretty picture together – what's there not to love???

Sorry, can't remember where I snitched this from already. -_-'

And if I silence the wannabe artist in me, I'd tell you that I don't mind peel seals (peel-and-stick seals) either – the lazy man's solution to hot wax stamping. These are ready made seals a.k.a flexiwax impressions for you to simply stick on. No fire, no hot wax, no mess with all the colour, your own design (or someone elses – depending on how much personalisation you're looking for) and all the fun of hot stamping regular wax seals, without the regular pain of DIY projects.

Come to think about it, they'd probably be a lot more convenient and practical in this day and age. Not to mention a whole lot safer for me, too. I've been getting butterfingered of late. -_-'

ANYHOO...

Does anybody know where I can get one made?
And how much they're going to cost me?

wax seals, i think the last time i got one is my aunt buy for me at new zealand @.@"

I think in malaysia, I last saw them at Papier at the Curve with a variety of designs... The shop is opposite Bubba Gump... but i cannot remember how much it is.

I saw pretty ones in Japan and they cost a bomb! T_T

I second to Jan abt getting 'em from the Curve. I think I've seen it there before. :)

is wax sealing only for snail mail? cos methinks using snail mail is like bringing a bow and arrows to a gunfight.

it seems really sentimental though. nice. =)

Why not get a paper embosser instead? I think there's greater utility there.

– Wah. I can't possibly go to NZ to get one so... I guess I'll have to visit The Curve and try my luck there. Opposite Bubba Gump means across the street ah?

– Eee. Why do all pretty things make girls go bankrupt!? No fair! ROAR!

Fine. I hope The Curve goes easy on my wallet. T_T

– Haha. I think it's nice when it comes to personalising stationary. Just a tiny touch to add pizazz to something simple. =)

And I think bows and arrows rock. Go, Cupid.

If you cant seem to get something you like you can tell me how you want it, my aunt will be back from nz on 3rd july, so if you want i can ask her to help :)

I agree with mel, paper embosser is nice too :) but my sis took mine to singapore.

Meanwhile paper lace is oso vy interesting to make :) but time consuming

– OOO! Really??? Wow. Okok. I'll visit The Curve as soon as I can first then if really tak ade other pilihan, I'll let you know and ask for your aunty's help. Wheee! Things are looking up already! Thanks! =)

I'm done with paper embossing. Plus, it's available. I like stuff I can't get. Cheeky monkey, I am. =p

I've not tried making paper lace. Maybe some day. Sounds tedious though.

Carve a potato!

– I highly doubt it'll come out as nicely as I envision it to if I use a potato. -_-'

I got mine custom-made for RM 90 (including shipping) but I'm not sure if you are willing to fork out that much for a seal. Imma warn you that the handle is nothing much to look at, just plain wood - painted black. But the design... They followed my picture to a T. Best thing is, they're Malaysia-based.

At the Curve, though, you can find them at Papier, but the handles are kinna small. That and the wax they're selling is way expensive. Ebay has relatively cheap glitter wax, just gotta find a dealer with not-so-expensive shipping charges.

If you're going for normal boring red (for those not-so-special occasions) there are some wholesalers in Klang, I think, that sell them for RM 4.50 a stick. Only problem is you gotta use a jet lighter or a metal spoon over a candle to melt the wax. Others have wicks that you can light and just drip onto the paper but the seal ends up having black streaks because of the carbon from the wick.

If you have any questions, hit me up on melissa_tian@yahoo.com. Searching for a wax seal that I -really- liked took a bloody long time, so I'm hoping that you can find yours too. :)
