Pam Song: Sewing.
didjital: You think you're a tailor? Huh? HUH??? This is not a tailor... ... ... Swift.
Pam Song: -_-''' Damn fail lah you.

answer: a dollar an hour sweatshop.
ATTN: hon
– Haha. Don't confuse my readers!
Nice belt.
ATTN: - nithya -
– Thanks! I like it. =p
but it really is called a sweatshop!
ATTN: BenYong
– Doesn't that only apply to big factory-like places that don't pay their workers well???
benyong agrees with me! haha. =)
tailor .... swift -_-'''
@pam: nope.
@hon: not so loud- I do fancy seeing a few more sunsets.
ahhh. what better to colour a sunset than with the red, fiery wrath of an angry woman... resulting from a quibble over the work place of a tailor?!
hmmm.
Well some tailors work in their own home.
@hon: This just in- Pam was right.

@pam: *puppy eyes*
@benyong she's right but we arent entirely wrong. most tailors work in sweatshops anyway. let me proof it to you.
if she meant tailors for designer labels, they work in studios. these constitute a proportionately low percentage of all tailors.
if she meant western suit tailors, they work in tailor shops. these constitutes a higher percentage of all tailors compared to tailors for designer labels.
but if she meant tailors from the common clothing industry, which is rampant in developing countries like thailand where labour is cheap and infrastructure like factories and warehousing is relatively cheaper to build compared to the rest of the world, then these tailors work in aforementioned "sweatshops". they make up more than 40% of the world's tailors.
concluding as such, since there no specific names for a tailor's workplace, thus, the closest being "sweatshop" wins the case.
i suppose. haha! =p

– BACKSIDE! A sweatshop is where clothes are MADE in BULK. NOT where a trained tailor (one with highly developed skills) works. Would you say that the lady who tailored your grandma's cheongsam worked in a sweatshop?
ATTN: zecount
– Haha. Dunno whether wanna laugh or cry.
ATTN: BenYong
– Hon still firing me sideways!!!
ATTN: Simon Seow
– Haha. That was as good as not giving me an answer. Haha.
Ha, what where?
cheongsams aside, since they require a lot of embroidery to make, your simpler belt prolly came from a sweatshop. cheongsams would have come from either studios or tailor shops.
but let's not make your pretty pink belt a piece of guilty fashion. cherish it to make up for all the hard work that has been put into mass producing them!
ps: im not firing at you sideways. it's a full frontal assault! =x
@benyong best trick in the book: act blur. haha!
like i said. its tailor swift!
ATTN: BenYong
– Don't you ha, what, where me!
ATTN: hon
– EH! We're talking about ME sewing here! The reference provided was me! How is that that I'm a sweatshop tailor??? RAWR!
ATTN: mcmlxxxi
– Intruder alert! Intruder alert! Intruder alert! Haha. Work lah. =p
@hon: Not working.
@pamsong: erm... okay. :D
the original belt wasn't made by you, pam, but a very high chance by a sweatshop tailor. you merely made alterations to it, not to the degree of changing the belt to a sash or a skirt, but only tightening it around your waist.
which directly means you are not the sweatshop tailor who was the creator of the belt.
which, also, directly means you're slim and slender since your belt required tightening. nice! =D
@benyong: (whisper) watch and learn!
ATTN: BenYong
– You're right. It's not working. Can you please knock some sense into Hon? Thanks. Think of it as an extra credit assignment on your part. =p
ATTN: hon
– So? What matters is that my needle was the last one to puncture the belt and complete the job. HAH! I'm the last tailor to sew anything on it!
And nice try. But it's going to take more than "slim and slender" to get you out of this one.
@pam: nah, I don't have the heart to stop the guy after all the effort he's put in- what with the longhand comments and all.
