Call Me Beautiful

Artist: Ginny Owens
Song Title: Call Me Beautiful

I've been waiting for a hero who's brave and strong
Someone to love me, someone to tell me I belong
So I pretend I'm satisfied and I stand watching on the sidelines
Till You pull me into the light and say,
"It's Your turn now, welcome to your life!"

[CHORUS]
And You call me beautiful
And say You've loved me all along
And You've always held the keys to unlock my soul
Oh You call me beautiful

There's a smile on my face and a brand new light in my eyes
It's a new day and I've never felt so alive
I feel as if I could conquer anything
Oh, that's what Your love has done for me
And now all I want to be is everything You want me to be

[CHORUS]
And You call me beautiful
And say You've loved me all along
And You've always held the keys to unlock my soul
But I didn't know that I can finally start to live
And take those chances I have missed
Things will be much different
Now that I know You call me beautiful

[BRIDGE]
The story's better than I could dream after all
Now this is reality
To know You and to hear You call me beautiful
Call me beautiful, call me beautiful (Call me beautiful)

[CHORUS]
Now I can finally start to live
And take those chances I have missed
Things will be much different
Now that I know, now that I know
You call me beautiful

"I've been waiting for a hero who's brave and strong
Someone to love me, someone to tell me I belong"

Looking back, I realise that I've been looking for satisfaction in life, happiness in love and a sense of belonging at all the wrong places. Why turn to men, work and endless activities when God – the ultimate hero who will save the day – is right there for me? The One who will love, accept and allow me to belong without a second thought.

"I feel as if I could conquer anything
Oh, that's what Your love has done for me
And now all I want to be is everything You want me to be"

His love is perfect. And Perfect Love is love that empowers. It is love that breathes life into the person whom that love is showered upon. It doesn't suffocate, hurt, punish, threaten, kill or destroy. It only seeks to build, liberate and uplift. Perfect love is love of the purest and truest kind. And true love is the one constant assurance and anchor in which, no matter what happens in your life – the loss of a job, a business goes bust, a lawsuit, a health problem, a death in the family, even bankruptcy – no matter what, it remains steadfast. Solid. Steady. Secure. It is love that never fails nor falters.

We are called to to love as He has loved us. But it isn't always easy. As mortals, we often fall short of that commandment. We end up not loving as we should, and we even fail to love like we want to. I wish I could say that the love I have for the people who matter to me is perfect. But it's not. Because I'm not perfect. And I do fail. But so do a lot of people. So in a world of failing love, the only place we can turn to that holds the promise of unfailing, unconditional, unwavering love... is in the arms of our loving Father.

"And You call me beautiful
And say You've loved me all along"

Indeed, I am loved. All along.

"Things will be much different
Now that I know, now that I know
You call me beautiful"

From here on out, the only way to go is up.
