Kuala Lumpur, May '11: InterContinental Kuala Lumpur (Formerly Known As Hotel Nikko Kuala Lumpur)

This time, unlike the many other times we've been to KL, we stayed in the city. Right smack along Jalan Ampang. At InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. Where simple pleasures come to life. (Stolen tagline alert! =p)

First things first. I must say... It was a very impressive hotel. Lobby with high ceilings, shiny marble floors, White Lilies and Bird Of Paradise in every pot... Phew, no wonder they say it's award-winning! To top it off, the service staff were well-trained, and the rooms were well-kept, well-furnished and well-equipped. Very nice! I like! A lot, a lot!

But enough with the ABCs already, Pam.
Let's have some captioned pictures instead!

The Premier Room at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur.

The super king kong-sized bed with the softest quilt
you just want to sink into at first touch.
Note the comfy sitting area in background.

Sitting area with wall art hanging above the sofa
embellished with twin cushions in a funky colour scheme.

View from the bed. TV right in front with an
impressive-sized study on the far left.

Dee making full use of the study.
(Pretend wan. For show nia the pose. =p)

Many, many plug points at the study table and all around the room.
Perfect for my tech-inclined family. We're always fighting for them.

I like that this hotel is modern, stylish and minimalist enough to want to hide their gadgets. Check out this bedside reading light we found tucked neatly into both corners of the bed's headboard!

Closed.

Pulled open.

Rotated outward.

SOMEBODY GET ME ONE OF THOSE!!!

Entryway corridor with a mirror and bathroom door on the right,
and a wardrobe and well-stocked mini pantry on the left.

Now, let me tell you about the bathroom.

Super cool light switches that don't actually come with switches!
You just press them and they light up to indicate On or Off! Mad rad, yo!

Seriously. It's sooo huge, it has earned the right to be called a room on its own. In fact, it's so big, it's like... 1.5 times the size of my room in Penang!! -_-''' Crazy. Fitted with everything you would ever need in a bathroom, and still got extra space to dance and berjoget in the middle summore.

View to the right – the sink, a toiletry box and half a bathtub.

Same thing from a different angle. That black thing in the foreground
was the hotel hairdryer in its own labelled hairdryer recycle bag.

Weighing scale under the sink. Probably cos
people tend to gain weight from all the food in Malaysia. :-/

View to the left – super canggih toilet bowl and walk-in shower stall.

Let's zoom in on that toilet bowl, shall we?

Toilet bowl equipped with a spray spray backside washer.

They brainwash you to think that the experience is very nais.

You know... I wonder why they bothered to make toilet bowls to help us wash our bums but they didn't think of inventing intelligent bots to help us wash our faces, too. I think we wash face more often than we pangsai right? Hmmm. I think inventors have a weird sense of priority. :-/

Clean face and hand towels with the regular hotel
shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion combo.

But that's not it. Wait till you open it up!

FOOOOYUH! Damn a lot of good stuff.
Sapu semua balik rumah. HAHA.

Oh yes, before I start talking about other things outside of the bathroom, another cool thing about this hotel is that they don't really expect you to reuse towels. And not in the one-towel-a-day kinda way. In a you-get-two-towels-a-day-whether-you-ask-for-it-or-not kinda way. Is that cool or what??? I mean, I know la, it's not environmentally friendly and bla bla bla but... come onnn... how often do normal folk like us get to change towels every time we bathe??? Such luxury is to be savoured, enjoyed, and not to be missed! I'll make up for the anti-green effect by not washing my towel at home for 2 weeks. Ok? Moving on...

Mini fridge stocked with goodies that cost a pretty penny.
Don't touch, save for the free bottles of water they provide.

Coffee or tea? Ceylon or Green? Sugar or Pal Sweet?
Creamer or... Whoops. No milk. Sorry.

AMAZINGLY SUPER GOOD QUALITY BEDROOM SLIPPERS,
an iron, shoe shine brush, a shoe wearing thingy and a safe.

Towel robes. Love those silk cushioned hangers.
I need to get me one of those to hang my gown!

Me taking a picture of myself in the mirror
along the corridor, across the mini pantry.

Alright, confession time...

We didn't have to sell a lung or a limb for this grand hotel stay. On the contrary, it was close to free. Last December, at the NST Street Party where I won the Sony Ericsson Satio™ I was looking to sell, Mee won herself this 2-night stay at InterContinental Kuala Lumpur. What can I say... that night turned out to be a very rewarding night for us! =p

A photocopy of the said voucher Mee won.
