Yep. That's W+K London's latest superstar, Dot. (Move over, Old Spice Guy! Looks like you're yesterday's news now. =p) She's officially the world's smallest stop-motion animation character. All 150 of her, that is.
You see, because Dot was sooo incredibly tiny, the team at Aardman had to prepare three stand-ins for each of the 50 poses she was captured in throughout her 1min 30sec debut. 3 stand-ins x 50 poses = 150 Dots in total. (Good thing they did, too. Apparently there were broken limbs and even an accidental decapitation involved during the shoot. @_@)
And because there were sooo very many individuals that make a whole of Aardman's little superstar, a mind-blowing 275 hours were put into getting her hair and make-up ready. Phew! That's a lot of micro-painting, if you ask me! Sure by the time finish, mata sepet liao. Haha.
Best part was this: Dot's 1.5-minute adventure took place on a m-a-s-s-i-v-e-e-e... 1.5m set. Haha. A massively magnified world, that is. But definitely still massive by Dot's micro-mini, Thumbelina standards, I suppose. =p
But... you might as well know that this entire exercise of making the world's smallest film was for the sole purpose of promoting Nokia's new N8 CellScope technology. (There's always a but lah, hor? Or else you think what? Put in all that hard work for Dot for syok ah? Of course not lah. =p)
Catch the making-of here.
I think it's worth a watch. =)
p/s: GAH, I LOVE SMALL THINGS!!! SO KIUTS!
