Don't Sit And Collect Dust

POS Malaysia has done its job. Or at least some of it. Cos although quite a few of my friends in Penang and KL have received our Save The Date cards, a good number still have yet to receive theirs. Hmmm... Wonder why.

Anyway... TADAAA!!!

Don't buy BB. Photos come out blurry
and wrong colour wan. Go buy iPhone 4. =p

Haha. Just showing you guys two out of all the responses I got. Funny how exciting receiving a card can get huh? Even I feel excited for them! Haha. =D

Ok, now let me first explain that the reason The Fiancé and I chose to send out not-customary-in-Malaysia-but-customary-everywhere-else Save The Date cards 9 months before the wedding. (Some Penang friends have curiously asked me, "Eh, why so early wan ah?" Haha.)

You see, in our case, it makes perfect logical sense. Mainly cos a majority of our guests are not local. As such, most would have to apply for leave before they get sucked into next year's work calendar (especially The Fiancé's friends in Australia), as well as make travel plans (e.g. buy flights, make carpool plans, book hotel rooms, etc) in advance for the best rates.

Plus, it helps us know how many people are actually planning to show (since travelling and leave-taking is involved, we're prepared for a moderately high drop-out rate T_T) so we can go ahead and plan the table seating, door gifts and budget on our side without having to resort to doing all that at the very last minute, which could turn out to be a big headache that might cause an even bigger mess.

So... yeah. A lot of thought has been put into this so don't let that Save The Day card sit and collect dust, okayyy! Go RSVP via the email add provided, book your leave (if needed) and make your travel plans! You've got 10 months and NO EXCUSES for not making for our big day. Wheee! =)

– Haha. Only people who know lots of ppl abroad tend to do that, I suppose. Malaysians hardly send Save The Date cards. :-/

This is true. Trying to save cost? Or because travelling within Malaysia is easy enough? Could be both. *taps chin*

– YAAA!!! Cos we're all cheapo Chinese. -_-'''

But also cos back in the day, fewer people had friends and family abroad cos fewer people had the chance to study and live abroad, I suppose.

Hi Pam,

I just got engaged this year too :)

Was just wondering is you'll be sending out wedding invitations later. Or if the Save-the-date cards act as the wedding invites as well?

– Hi there! Firstly... CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT! =D

And secondly, to answer your question, yes. We'll still be sending out wedding invitations closer to the wedding date. My fiance and I decided to send Save The Date cards because most of our friends aren't from our hometown and they would need advanced notice in order to book their leave dates and make travel plans. =)

Thanks! Though my wedding day is not as soon as yours. The date seems to be pushed back further and further, because of time and budget constraints (we just bought a condo). So now we are still undecided about the date.

Like you, I opted to be a DIY bride, and let me tell you, it's an absolute nightmare trying to plan anything without a date!

– Oh, trust me... I've been there with the date-less-ness and it's horrible! There's no timeline to work backwards from and no vendor actually takes you seriously without a wedding date. -_-

How long have you guys been engaged? My fiance and I took 3 months to settle on a date. But after that, things kinda went smoother. Guess it will for you, too.

Here's a thought: Why not plan your condo ID and deco in the mean time to get your mind off stressing over a wedding you can't actually plan?

Congrats on the condo, by the way. =)
