A moron (who happens to be a Doctor Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, by the way *rolls eyes* and based on personal experience, is also a very ungentlemanly, no-morals, untruthful man) rammed his silver Toyota Camry right into the side of my car at the Rothmans Roundabout at approximately 11:30PM tonight.
Thing is, he jets from the scene, avoids going to the police station with the lame excuse that he left his mobile phone at his sister's home, ignores all calls from my friends and I, then has the cheek to SMS a couple of hours later saying he will be claiming MY insurance. (After which, he conveniently ignores all calls again.) What rubbish. The only MY he's going to get from me is followed by "arse". >(
He's got 24 hours to make his report.
That's till 11:30PM tonight (14 October 2009).
I'm counting.

as far as i kno.. he needs to make a police report within 24 hours in order to claim insurance (be it his own or yours) he can only claim yours if he is in the right (based on police's decision), which judging from how Pam-mobile's hit, i doubt so.

pam, the following steps to take:-
1)make police report (and hopefully u got the other car's registration number and if possible,the driver's name/IC number)
2)contact yr insurance company
3)insurance company will send loss adjuster to assess the cost of damage
4)send car to insurance company's recommended car workshop (normally paid by insurance company) or, if permitted, to the car workshop of yr own preference (have to check on who will pay first).
5)after car repair, submit all bills, police report, pictures of damaged car to yr insurance company
6)yr insurance company will deal with the other car owner's insurance company
the police will decide who is at fault during your police report session
sheesh thank god you are okay! Yeah make sure you fight back. That idiot just wants to scare you. I had my first ever accident last year here and it was a stupid small truck driver that hit my car and then tried to blame me for it. Didn't work in the end cause he had to pay for my repairs. Just stay firm and don't let him get to you. My mum is a lawyer hahah don't know how helpful that will be but let me know if you need help. She can scare that idiot for you :)

If he wants to claim your insurance he has to make a police report, no two ways about it.
And the case can be judged either way, because at a roundabout you are supposed to give way to those coming from the left..and you are hit on the left side of your car meaning from the police viewpoint it's probable you did not give way and pulled out in front of him.
Most likely you'll both have to pay RM300 summons.
The only difference is if you lose your no claims, he loses his or you both lose it.
Also depends on what agreement the insurance companies come to.

The one in the roundabout should be given way first for those who wants to enter the roundabout. Meaning, always give way to the on-coming traffic on your right.
The damage clearly shows the Camry is in the wrong.

Funny tone aside, luckily you're fine. That jackass has no business asking you for a claim if he hit you. Malaysia law is that whoever hits from the behind is the one in the wrong. My brother was in a similar accident recently, just a lot worse than yours. :( boo to stupid drivers.
