According to the bureau this has turned out to be the longest cold snap on record. It even beats a July 1997 stretch of nine straight nights of 5ºC or below.

And from June 24 to 28, it was recorded that the min morning temp dropped below 3ºC – the longest string of temperatures this low in at least 17 years.

WAIT, I'M NOT DONE!

This winter, we also shivered through the coldest June night in four years. (Watch the news clip here.) And 2 nights ago – that was the last time I caught the weather report – surrounding areas in WA recorded a low of -5ºC. (Lowest ever recorded was -6ºC on June 27, 2010.)

Even Perth Zoo is taking measures by turning up its heaters and installing specially designed hot rocks, sunlamps and heated pillows to ensure that their animals are kept snug and warm. (Read: alive and unfrozen.) (News story here.)

They tell us wind and rain will develop when Thursday rolls along. And that the super duo will finally bring an end to this ridiculously long spell of record-breaking cold, frosty mornings. I can't wait.


Cos seriously... not only is it cold, it's dry as hell, too. (Humidity right now is only at a pathetic 24%.) According to the Bureau, Perth has had the second driest June on record with only 54mm of rainfall. (June's total rainfall average is usually 135mm.) Riiiggghhhttt. No wonder my skin hurts, itches and looks like shit. T_T
