My G1 Can't Focus In The Dark

That was my second shot at them feathery, white bums. The first shot was supremely worse. HAHA. Check it out. It's the first picture here. But hmmm... Other cameras also liddat ah? Same problem? Or does it only apply to my photography skills my Panasonic Lumix G1? *click* | *click* | *click* In order to get the picture you see below, I had to focus the camera elsewhere before aiming it back at them birdie bums. Is that normal?
