During Michael Jackson's public memorial service at Staples Center, LA, Usher sang a beautiful rendition of Gone Too Soon – a song MJ himself dedicated to the memory of Ryan White, a young AIDS patient he befriended before his (Ryan White's) death on April 8, 1990.
Both versions are nice. Both equally assad touching. But somehow, I like Usher's version better. Not because he sang it better (though he did do the song justice). But because the lyrics ring truer when sung in reference to the legendary King of Pop himself.
Both versions are nice. Both equally as
Enjoy.
Original Artist: Michael Jackson
Song Title: Gone Too Soon
Like a comet blazing ‘cross the evening sky
Gone too soon
Like a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon
Shiny and sparkly and splendidly bright
Here one day, gone one night
Like the loss of sunlight on a cloudy afternoon
Gone too soon
Like a castle built upon a sandy beach
Gone too soon
Like a perfect flower that is just beyond your reach
Gone too soon
Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
Here one day, gone one night
Like a sunset dying with the rising of the moon
Gone too soon
Gone too soon
FYI: Contrary to popular belief, Michael Jackson didn't write this song. Larry Grossman (music) and Buz Kohan (lyrics) did. Michael merely produced it with co-producer Bruce Swedien.
