We Want Bread, But We Want Roses, Too

"As we go marching, marching, we bring the greater days.
The rising of the women means the rising of the race."

– Excerpt from Bread and Roses by James Oppenheim

--------------

Almost a century since and still so much left to be realised. Why are women still treated like glorified maids at home even when they've got successful careers outside that homely setting? When is it more difficult for a woman to stand her ground in the presence of men than it is for a man to stand his ground in the presence of women? And why are they paid less than men? There are, after all, more women in our universities than there are men today. More learned women. So where, therefore, does the problem lie? Sigh.

I can't wait for greater days to come.

But now, I leave you with this:

As we go marching, marching, we battle too for men,
For they are women's children, and we mother them again.
– Excerpt from Bread and Roses by James Oppenheim

Yes, its high time the women in the kitchen step up the plate and start becoming the best chefs in the world. Becoz for all the time spent in the kitchen, why are the Gordon Ramsays still the best chefs in the world? N the ones getting the Michelin award.

From observations and personal experiences, women aren't cut up for top management positions. When they get there, we can see the arrogance, inciting in-fighting, back-stabbing and claw scratching. I'm not being sexist but relli, female colleagues told me they juz dont like female bosses. The naivety displayed sometimes is shocking. Fortune 500 companies provide a good barometer for studyin the trend is still it is as u mentioned.

Social conditioning is key to understanding this =)

I also think there are differing expectations on what equality means.
