Wedding Bells Are Ringing!

And that's making me crazy happy right now.

I can hardly believe that one of my closest, dearest friends is finally on her way to becoming... a missus! My very own friend! Who's my age! Whom I shared a good number of years with! Haha! And I have to say... it's incredibly exciting! Like, totally!

I think I should stop using
exclamation marks for a bit.
A bit OD already. =p

Anyway, she's the first one in my social circle, in my age group, who's on her way to getting hitched. I feel that it kinda changes the pace for every one of us. It's almost like her impending marriage (impending in a good way, of course) just totally revoked our license to be silly, giddy-headed school girls in Kancils with killer exhaust pipes. (I miss that explosive heap of blue metal. =p)

But I don't wanna grow up just yet!

Can I still be a silly, giddy-headed school girl
while I'm in a ridiculously big white gown?

*pouts*

Oh! Oh! And the best part is this:
I'M THE FIRST TO KNOW. HAH!

Couldn't resist lah. Bragging rights and all that.

It really feels like such an honour.
Wheee... Happy happy joy joy. =)

Anyway, this one's for you, darling. After four years of love and mush. (Yes, I heard it all and remember all the stories.) Congrats, babe! Your time is now. =)

XOXO,
pamsong

Wah! Got People Read Wan Ah?!

I got linked by a recent blogger I met. *blink blink* Wait. I don't believe I wrote that. *rolls eyes* What I meant to say was... I got linked to a blogger I recently met. o_O *slaps forehead* That's so wrong. What am I talking about!? I MEAN... I RECENTLY MET A BLOGGER WHO LINKED ME. ARGH! What am I saying??? That's wrong, too! Short stories just don't work lah. Haiyo!

Long story: I went for a blogger meeting thingamajig last weekend (stay tuned for updates on that) and after meeting the said blogger, he linked me to his blog. (There. So easy. Phew.)

Check that out, man.
I'm called The Butt Kicker.

Jeng jeng jeng.

Haha. Beat that, Zorro!
I got cooler name than you.

And then I started to wonder.

How the heck did the fella know that I kick butt? (Yes, I do. Very well, in fact.) I was all sweet pea mushy maro that day wat. Never lash out at anybody or bite back at anyone also. Why he can call me butt kicker leh? Hmmm. Do I exude the vibe? Am I surrounded by the invincible Kim Possible aura? Can it be, can it be?

And then I remembered.

-_-

So potong.

Well, at least I now know that even the shortest lines I write get read. Haha. But... it could also mean that the lazy bugger just didn't bother reading any of my other stuff when he decided to link me up as The Butt Kicker. WHICH ONE IS IT, NIGEL??? Did you read e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g... or did you read n-o-t-h-i-n-g but my profile description? Answer wisely. Consider yourself forewarned.

*insert Psycho soundtrack here*

So, bloggers, learn well. WHAT YOU SAY
IN YOUR PROFILE MATTERS!

Google Goes Green

Happy Earth Day, everybody!

And why am I still this perky at 11:59pm, after a long day at work? Well, it's cos I caught the latest Google doodle! Wheee!

Been meaning to blog about this all day but just couldn't find time to sneak in the 2 minutes to do it. Sigh. (It's been crazy at work like you wouldn't believe, man. Beh tahan.) Anyway, I personally don't think that this Google doodle's that great. I liked their earlier ones better. *click to see the LEGO Brick doodle and click to see this year's Chinese New Year doodle* I think the colours just don't do it for me lah. So dull! Bleh. Like so tak semangat liddat. Doesn't do Earth Day any justice whatsoever.

And if you don't know what Earth Day is all about (where have you been, yo?!), visit this website *click* for more information. You'll find this *points below* Call for Climate there.

Anybody got Badawi's mobile number?

O Sacred h-Artichokes!

I'm losing my mind! No. Make that...
the powers that be are messing with my head!

AARRGGGHHH!!!

I cannot take it lah, cannot take it. My only comfort is this: THANK GOODNESS I'M NOT SAILING ALONG ALONE IN THESE WRETCHED WATERS. Lucky for me, I've got others in the same boat as I am. (Lucky for them, too. Haha.) All similarly floating around aimlessly without oars or life jackets. Want to drown also cannot, want to get out of the boat also cannot. I ask you how? Ish.

I wanna go Guang Zhou lah.

*pouts*

Leave Your Comment?

After more than a year of writing with Blogger (after my official shift from The Old Tinki Talks at Friendster Blogs), I finally got tired of seeing this old line:

"Leave your comment."

*rolls eyes*

Gawd, and I call myself a writer.

*groan*

So shameful.

It's time to bergatal with my comment settings.

Settings > Comments > Comment Form Message
(If you're really that noob with blog templates and you need
directions lah. But don't worry. Nobody's judging.)

So from now onwards, dear comment leavers... what you guys will see, will be this deeply-thought-through, long-pondered continuation to 'Leave your comment':

I'm all for honest self-expression. Haha.

BUT BE KIND TO ME LAH
SINCE I WRITE
STUFF FOR YOU
TO READ EVERY DAY,
NO MATTER
HOW BUSY I AM AT WORK!

Have a bit of gratitude can or not???

ROAR!

*blink blink*

I think I have rage issues.

Anyway, fine. I know it's not a great line but it'll have to do for now, okay? Sorry lah but my Copywriter brain stopped functioning 5 minutes to midnight. My only problem now is that my body won't let me fall asleep. -_-

It's Been Awhile

It's been awhile since my workdays have been fun-filled. It's been awhile since I've had a good laugh with my colleagues without feeling guilty for doing so during office hours. It's been awhile since I've had time to have a lazy lunch without having to rush back to work in less than an hour.

It's been awhile since I've not dreaded tagging in in the morning. It's been awhile since I've smiled at Ah Beng without seeing that same self-pitying smile being reflected back at me. It's been awhile since I've felt happy sitting at my assigned place in The Cu•bi•cle. It's been awhile since I've been happy at work. It's been awhile since I've been happy. Period.

I miss the good times.

Where have they gone?

Blogging Is Freaky But I Like It

You know, after blogging for about 3 years, I have to say that the weirdest thing about blogging to me, is that total strangers – some even from entirely different parts of the world – start becoming a part of your life. They start becoming friends. Virtual friends, perhaps but still... friends to say the least. And I have to admit that I still find that a tad odd after all this time. Haha. I mean, they're practically strangers, right???

But this, I also know. It's not really the people you meet everyday who know the most about you. It's those who read what you write who eventually end up knowing more about how you really feel on the inside, know what you really think about when you're going through the different seasons in life, and know how things really are with you. They follow you as you journey through life's highs and lows because you've let them into your world in Cyberspace.

They laugh with you when you're happy, and comfort you when you're down. And heck, I find that most times, my never-seen-before blogger friends somehow comment on Tinki Talks faster than the time my every-see-until-sien friends take to reply my smses! How ridiculous is that, I ask you? That's why it sometimes seems easier asking questions on my blog rather than sms-ing my friends for help and answers. (Like when I needed directions to the Nuffnang Pajama Party and when I wanted to renew my passport and didn't know where to go.)

So my point of going through that lengthy explanation was just so that I COULD SHOW OFF MY LATEST PRESSIE FROM ONE OF MY LOYAL READERS! Lookie lookie!

Mwahahahaha. Let yourselves go
and be jealous, guys. Green is in. =p
Chicken essence, okay. Dun play play.

Branded wan summore.

But still... I'm a skeptic. So, I kinda had my doubts lah. Mana tau it's just the box leh? Then malu like hell if I blog about it first and then realise it's tissue paper inside much later when I decide to start consuming the stuff. So, I ripped open the box. Haha. Just to be sure. (I know. It's pathetic how I have zero faith in the goodness of mankind. -_-)

REAL WAN LEH!!!

It's cos I've been working pretty hard the past week and my readers know how crazy it's been. Haha. And... reading post after post that talks of nothing but work stress isn't too fun lah, right? Haha. I think that this is the fella's way of telling me, "Enough lah, Pam. Stop with the stress posts. At least drink this so that you feel alert and energized enough to give us some REAL posts with REAL readable content, okay?" Haha.

How do I know that?

Well, the pack came with
1 free bottle of InnerShine.

InnerShine is prune essense, if you didn't know. And what do prunes make you do? They make you poop. Hmmm. Dodgy. Is he trying to tell me to start crapping, again??? Haha. Whatever the case, it was kind of him lah. Thanks, Sheon! =)

Operasi Train Jantan: Part 22

It's back! Jeng jeng jeng.

Men of all ages (read: boys included), social backgrounds, locations, creeds, cultures and colours, be prepared to be educated in...

THE ART OF GIFT-BUYING
FOR YOUR WOMAN!

(Just admit that most of you are just losers when it comes to this lah, okay.)

So, without much further ado,
let's let the lesson begin!

1. Get her something she will like. Quite basic, right? But it's not as easy. First, you need to have sufficient knowledge of her tastes, likes and dislikes. If you don't have that knowledge, boys, it's time to learn about your woman. Study her preferences and purchases. Pay attention to what she says and make mental notes of the things that catch her eye. Open your eyes. (It helps if you bother going shopping with her once in awhile. Plus, it'd totally make her day.) And don't just hear,... LISTEN! (I know many girls who 'tip' their boyfriends off before special events. I don't like the whole idea of it but... whatthehew. I'm just tellin' ya what I know.)

2. Never get her something you WANT her to like. I mean, hello. What for you get her something YOU like? (Unless both of you have the fab fortune of having the same tastes every time lah.) It's her on the receiving end, right? So what matters is not what YOU want, but what SHE wants. Plus, why you wanna change her? If she likes chunky Ah Lian bracelets, you buy her chunky Ah Lian bracelets lah! It's that Ah Lian you fell in love with in the first place, right??? So why can't she be Ah Lian now?!

3. Get her something she won't get herself. Not because she wouldn't like having it, but because she either (1) can't afford it, or (2) refuses to part with her money cos she feels it's not worth spending money on it though she likes the thing to bits. Women are that way sometimes. We obsess over the things we like but end up not making the purchase *heartache* cos we know we'll eventually feel bad for spending money on girlie stuff that'd make us insanely happy... and totally broke at the same time. -_-

4. Get her something she wants but can't find. I know it can irritate you boys when you see how ridiculous our girlie wants, whims and fancies may sometimes be but... take my word for it, this gift-buying method will score you killer points with your girl! It just shows us that you'll go anywhere and look far and wide just to make us happy. Effort matters! More effort = more points. It's as simple as that. If she wants a hairband that can only be found in Egypt, YOU GET HER THAT HAIRBAND! (Ebay if you have to lah, okay. Not that difficult, right?)

5. Get her something from every place you visit. It's sweet to do so. Responsible, in fact. Cos it shows her that you thought of her even when you weren't physically together. It's very affirming. =) And it's nice being reaffirmed when you and your partner aren't physically together, right? But all the rules of gift-buying apply ya. Get her something SHE will like. And not something you WANT her to like.

6. Get her something you know she'd like but the thought of it hasn't crossed her mind yet. Sorry guys, this option is only applicable if you really know your woman well. Haha. To break it down for you, take this simple example. Say, you know your girl's a music lover. And though she's never really WANTED an iPod, you know that if she had it, she'd be ecstatic with joy. That kind. Not that difficult if you take time to get to know your girl well and pay attention to her interests.

7. Don't buy her something, MAKE her something. Like I said in #4, effort counts. Draw her a card. Stick figures also nevermind. Draw her portrait. Even if she looks like a cow, she'll close one eye and smile like her life depended on it. Write her a song. Even if nothing rhymes and you sing off key, she'll love it all the same... and love YOU even more! Women are just shallow that way, okay. No kidding. Just be glad that our shallowness works to your benefit.

8. Get her something nobody else will be eligible to get her but you. This is where you take full advantage of your boyfriend/husband card. Either (1) get her something so expensive that no Tom, Dick or Harry would ever buy for just a regular female friend, or (2) get her something so intimate and explicit that nobody else other than her partner would dare get her (for fear of offending her or sending the wrong message lah). Do this and you won't even have to worry that somebody else may get her the same thing! How cool is that? Fail-proof plan. This is really gift-buying made simple lor.

9. Get her TWO gifts. A fake one and a real one. This wan, we play strategy already. Get her something nice but... not that great. Let her pretend to ooh and ahh (yes, we do it all the time when we're disappointed with what we get) over your fake gift. Then its YOUR turn to pretend that the surprise is over, and that the night will carry on with nothing else special in store. Then, before you send her home, while you're saying your goodbyes, hand her your second gift – the REAL gift. I guarantee you it'll swoon her over. GUARANTEE! Girls fall for this all the time. Too bad not enough guys know this technique. They always stop at the first (fake) gift. -_-

10. Get her something EVERY GIRL will like. A blank cheque. Flowers. (Any girl who says she doesn't like flowers is a liar.) Bling. (Read: diamonds. But make sure you know her taste in jewellery before going on the hunt. Very expensive to make a mistake with this gift.) A credit card. A spa/manicure/pedicure voucher. (Mmm. Nice.) Uh, teddy bears? (Yuck. I am so not a teddy person. *shiver*) Whatever the case, this option should be your LAST resort. Not your first. (Don't think I don't know what you're thinking, you lazy buggers who don't wanna think about what your girl REALLY wants.)

So there you have it. 10 easy-to-follow steps to buying the perfect gift for your woman. May there be many more happy women out there from today onwards. Haha. It feels like I've done my bit for humanity. *beams*

p/s: Was kiddin' with the 'blank cheque' and 'credit card' comments, okay. But... some girls are like that lor. That's why you guys have to berjaga-jaga, keep your eyes open and your wallets out of sight, okay? But let's leave that 'Sniffing Out Wanita Gila Wang' lesson for another post altogether. Cheers! =)
