Perth, March '11: A Bus Named CAT

Perth's Central Area Transit (short for CAT) system consists of three bus routes. The Blue CAT that runs between Perth and Northbridge areas, the Red CAT that runs between West Perth and East Perth areas, and the Yellow CAT that runs between East Perth, Perth and West Perth areas.

If you didn't get any of that, it doesn't matter. The important thing to know is that the Perth CAT is FREE OF CHARGE TRANSPORTATION and you should definitely use it if ever you're in Perth. Even if you're not headed in any of those directions. Haha. Why? FREE MAH! Take lah! =p

On our first day in Perth, we didn't have a choice in the matter. No car? Take bus lah! So off to the Blue CAT bus stop we went. (We were headed for Chinatown along Roe Street in Northbridge for dinner.) Turns out we just missed the CAT. -_-''' So we waited for the next one. N-a-t-u-r-a-l-l-y, I took pictures while waiting.

Blue CAT bus stop.

Shady trees protecting us from the evil of a cloudless sky.

The roads are wide but the cars are few.

Us waiting.

But waiting for public transportation never takes too long in Perth City. Cos it's dependable. And usually (if not always) on time. Unlike public transportation elsewhere. *cough cough* So in under two winks, we were seated in the air-conditioned bus and headed for our destination.

Inside the Blue CAT at the Esplanade Busport.

Gosh, I didn't realise how much
I've missed these gaudy-looking seats!

The Blue CAT usually makes a longer stop at the Esplanade Busport cos that's where people make interchanges when they get off other buses and trains. I think it's also where the bus drivers get off to pee and/or take a smoke. So while waiting... I took more pictures. Haha. Of the bus, of the seats, and of our legs.

No points for guessing which one's The Fiancé's and which one's mine.

Our difference in colour. Back then lah.
Now I think terbakar until same same eh di. -_-'''

Soon enough, we were on our way again. With more people in the bus this time. (Remember what I said about people making interchanges? Well, these are the 'people'. *points below*)

Passing London Court bus stop along St. George's Terrace.

Random shot of a building along St. George's Terrace.

The ride took a little longer than usual cos Perth City's in a royal mess at the moment due to road closures and substantial upgrading works that are being conducted along St. George's Terrace. We were literally moving slower than walking pace at times, man! But still, their jam cannot fight our jam lah, ok? So we still win. Malaysia masih boleh. Happy?

Anyway, bottom line is that we finally arrived
at the Northbridge stop in time for dinner.

But that's another story for another post. =)
