The "Right" Way To Lou Sang

1. Order lou sang then pretend to act normal when the dish arrives and the waitress/waiter is preparing it.

2. As soon as they leave, start whipping out your wallets, handbags and purses, and place them all around the Lazy Susan like so.

NOTE: Laughter is permissible at this point.

3. Proceed to lou and be sure to make a mess out of everything. Even if it means covering your prosperity pouches in raw salmon, colourful keropok and pomelo.

4. For bonus blessings from the prosperity gods, make sure you make the effort to bust a sick boy out of hospital and have him lou with you. You can return him to the hospital after dinner. Preferably before visiting hours are over at 10PM.

KL Food FTW!

The weekend before CNY rolled around, I organised a short trip down to KL to purchase my dream cam from a trusted contact in Sungai Wang. (I always get the best possible price and his follow-up service is amazing.) But wait. This post isn't about new toys or shutter-bug gadgetry, is it? No, it's about FOOD. KL food.


You see, unlike many from Penang who've gone down to KL for studies or work, I tend to enjoy KL food and would even miss it when I'm away. Because, contrary to popular belief, KL does have good food hidden in discreet corners. Those who complain about it just haven't found the right spots to feast yet. =)

Here's what I had in KL.

But not too bad lah considering I only had Saturday to really catch up on food since I arrived past midnight on Friday night / early Saturday morning, and left after lunch on Sunday. I would have loved to have also had Peanuts from Snowflake, BBQ-ed Baby Crabs from SS15, Dry Bak Kut Teh from Klang, Banana Leaf Rice from Kanna Curry House, Braised Duck Rice from PJ State, and Ikan Panggang from Kepong as well but... no time lah. Sigh. Oh well. Next trip.

FOTH Reunited In Penang!

Over McDonald's Breakfast Meals (tea for me, coffee for her), roti jala with curry chicken, mandarin oranges, and fresh sausage rolls and scones – all, during the peak of the Chinese New Year heat that met us on Day 3. (Not that it's been all that hot this year.) (Thank goodness for that, by the way.)

Yes, as you can see, there was

a LOT of food involved. Haha. 

Please excuse the super duper bad hair day I was having.

It's been slightly over 3 years since we've had time to really hang out, catch up and invest into each others' lives. And 3 years is a long time for a friendship to be put on hold. Things change. I've left my old job, relocated back up to Penang and got engaged. She's gotten engaged, married and moved offices in a major way. People can change, too. But thankfully, the beauty of some friendships is that they just fall right back into easy conversation effortlessly. Like ours. =)

Everybody, meet Gannie.

She's my oldest, dearest friend from like, a whole lifetime ago. We've known each other for so long, I don't even know where to begin talking about our friendship and its history. Haha. Bottom line? We have both taken countless afternoon baths together butt naked... but it's so far back in the day we don't remember any of it! Haha. Yes, we were that young.


Gannie and I grew up in Kindy together. Friends before we could even talk. Probably before we even had teeth. Before boobs or periods, that's for sure. We parted ways after pigtails and Kindergarten but miraculously kept in touch. An amazing feat considering we did it without the help of mobile phones, Friendster, Facebook, ICQ, MSN, GTalk, Skype, or Twitter.


I don't remember much of our primary school days except for the fact that she attended every one of my birthday parties every year without fail. @_@ But we did attend tuition classes together all throughout our secondary school life – that, I remember very clearly. Even had Frankie Pizza dinner and Pure Vanilla from Coffee Bean together every Friday night after Physics tuition. Then college came along and we were made to part ways again.

Now, here we are.

Ipoh Mali Mia Olang

If you've ever heard me speak of Ipoh, you'll have had known that I don't think much of the town. Or its drivers. If you can even call them that based on the way they drive. If you can call what they do driving in the first place, of course.

*snorts*

But... as fate would have it, I have a surprisingly healthy number of good friends who all hail from that little phi sai of a town, snuggled comfortably between Kuala Lumpur and Penang along the North-South Highway. So, needless to say, conversation can sometimes get very "exciting" between us.

Haha. Trust an Ipoh boy to waste precious food by throwing it at an enemy just to prove a point. Tsk tsk. Throw?? EAT LAH, WTH!? Haiyo... A Penangite would never commit such a heinous crime. Ipoh people should learn a bit. =p

Happy Chinese New Year

Hi Cyber Folk,


I know that it's been pretty blah here on Tinki Talks – more like all doom and gloom, really – this past two weeks or so. And I'm sorry for raining on your parade day in and day out because of my own sorrows. But hey, I've gotta let it out somewhere, right? And where better than here. =)


Thing is, I really want to say "Thanks" for sticking around long enough for things to lighten up. I'd have expected my readership to drastically drop to like, 5 UVs a day or something due to my sporadic posting of late. But... surprisingly, I still have enough of you hanging around for me to justify not having to bring out the big guns and perform blog CPR.
