My Husband, The Bag Man

They say there are shoe girls and bag girls.
I don't think I'm either one of them. :-/

The Husband, on the other hand, is definitely,
without a doubt, 110% a bag man.

Remember that Kate Spade bag he bought me last December when we were on holiday with the family in Singapore? Well, it's been wiped cleaned, wrapped in tissue paper, and put aside to make way for some other bags he bought me while we were honeymooning in London. One that I've been using ever since we returned to Malaysia because I "must depreciate it!" (Show you pictures of that bag in another post.) And another that I just decided to start using today.

Meet my new Longchamp on her first day out. =)

That's the Longchamp Paris, Le Pliage, Tote Bag.

I don't know much about Longchamp bags, to be honest with you. Am not really brand-savvy, nor am I a big-on-bags person who knows everything about every "branded" bag brand along Fashionville Boulevard. I even had to Google the one I had to be sure that I was calling it the right name. HAHA.

And yes, if you zoom in on the colour dots in the pic above, you'll notice that this bag is available in two colours (black and grey – as seen above) and in three sizes (S, M and L – not seen above but I'll show you cos I'm awesome like that).

2 colours – grey (mine!) and black.

I actually preferred the black version with bright stripes down the middle but... it was out of stock in the size I wanted. Plus, it looks a little too much like the style of my Kate Spade bag – primarily black with bright, contrasting colours – so... nah. Might as well get something a little different this time around. No regrets though. I like the subtlety of the muted colours that they used. Understated but there, nonetheless. =)

3 sizes with different strap length.

I bought the middle one. Am not a fan of short straps that don't allow me to free my hands and sling my handbag over my shoulder. Plus, the small one was too small for all my kachang and the big one was just waaay too big. I'd spend hours just looking for keys in that black hole!

Anyway, back to my bag...

After having been to a Longchamp store (the one along New Bond Street) and after having visited the Longchamp section at Harrods, my eyes have been opened. Somewhat. I've started appreciating the Longchamp brand a little more and owning one has helped me notice little details that help me identify a real Longchamp versus a fake.

 "LONGCHAMP MODELE DEPOSE"
– bag type and description on the back.

Apparently, you can also tell if it's a real or a fake based on how shiny the material is and how long the strap is. But... no examples for you cos I don't own a Longchamp factory. Haha. But, yes. I have been educated. So here I am, sharing my learnings with you. May you be educated, too! (If you aren't already.) =)

Awww... Wait, No. Not Really. :-/

Last Friday, in the midst of getting an
advertising-in-KL update, ChickLit said:

Haih. I dun understand lah. Takkan there is no better, fancier dish to remind people of me meh? Like caviar? Or oysters? Or wagyu beef? Takkan only RM4 prawn noodles with soup that's probably boiled with recycled prawn shells collected from the back alleys of hotels bring Pam Song to mind?! -_-

London-Cambridge-London-Paris-London, July '11: Heathrow, Terminal 3 And Beyond!

Arrived in London 13-and-a-half hours later,
looking like hell after the worst flight ever.

First picture in London.

Dehydrated skin, puffy eyes, cracked lips – so not a lovely sight on the first day of our honeymoon. Sigh. But too bad! He married me! Too late to turn back now! HAHAHAHA. Wth. Anyway, you can't see it in that pixelised picture but, unlike myself, The Husband arrived looking all rosy, refreshed and radiant from his 13-hour nap on-board flight SQ322. Kanasai. >(

Baggage claim area.

We didn't check in any bags – all carry-on – so we bypassed this section of the airport and zoomed straight toward our first destination in London – TANDAS!

Toilets in Heathrow, Terminal 3.

I was quite surprised that for a first-world country, the toilets in London weren't as clean as the ones found in Australia or Singapore. I mean, still better than public toilets Malaysia lah, of course. But really nothing to shout about. More or less like Malaysian 4-star hotel toilet standard. The Gardens' RM5 toilet also cleaner. Cheh. Disappointing nia.

Next destination? Our hotel. That was 30km away. Instead of calling a cab, we decided to save money and take the London Underground instead! So... down to the underground we went with our two luggage bags!

Ramp to the underground.

It was really, really early in the morning at the time (we landed at 5.55AM London time) so there was hardly anyone about. Not even at the usually-busy London Underground so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves all morning.

First sight of the London Underground.

Customary touristy I-was-there! shot.

From across the tracks. Am loving the old walls.

The train arrived in mere minutes so before we knew it, we were aboard the famed and reliable train of London that snaked the undergrounds of London like the catacombs I read about in Enid Blyton's Famous Five books. =)

Inside the train.

Travelled by train all the way to Russell Square Station at Bloomsbury – the nearest underground station to our hotel – the Hilton London Euston hotel.

Entrance to Russell Square Station.

According to some, this picture I captured of Russell Square Station with hardly any people is a rare sight considering the underground is usually busy all day. And night. Haha. But hey, what would you expect at 6-something in the morning during the Summer hols? =p

Signage outside Russell Square Station with a map.

Speed-walked the 8 minutes to our hotel at Upper Woburn Place in the surprisingly cold Summer morning breeze then proceeded to pitifully ask the receptionist for an early check-in. Haha. Have to lah. Our check-in time was not till 3PM! That's a whole 5+ hours away after an even longer journey! I will pengsan right in their lobby, I tell you. Checking us in early was for their own good. =p

p/s: Pictures of our room in the next post.

Going Legal For $10 AUD

Bought my very first digital album yesterday.
Gosh, I feel so... legal! Like a model citizen! Haha.

p/s: I wanted just one song from Alarice's album to use in one of our wedding videos but couldn't find a high bit rate version for free online. (Obviously I tried getting it for free first lah, kan? =p) Ended up buying the full album cos my Penang kia brain calculated that I might as well buy her songs in bulk rather than pay $1.69 per song. (More than the price of 320kbps songs on iTunes, man! @_@) Feels good to not be a pirate but... I'm also feeling like I'm starting to regret considering I ended up using the lower bit rate demo version I found for free online for the video. Wth. Oh, and also I later discovered that her whole album had just 6 songs and not the usual 10. HAIYA. Kena con liao. -_-'''

I Bruise Easily So Be Gentle When You Handle Me

My left shoulder, lined with broken capillaries.

Just one trip to TESCO Seri Tanjung with my Envirosax recycle bag and I come home with strips of broken capillaries all over my shoulders. -_-''' Sigh. Maybe I should start bringing a trolley bag whenever I grocery shop instead. At least that way, I won't get hurt in the process of carting milk and Honey Stars home. @_@

The Alternative To Unhealthy Suppers

Mee says my Nasi Kandar with Ayam Goreng, Telur Masin and Kuah Campur suppers in the middle of the night are unhealthy. So this is what I'm having tonight:
