The Last Day

I can't believe it's officially the last day of April. Feels like just yesterday I griped about it being April already and now... it's over!? Dang! Time sure flies faster the older you get. -_-''' And sure, I won't deny the fact that I'm excited about the coming of May cos of Labour Day Weekend and all but... May also effectively spells TWO MONTHS TO D-DAY. @_@ Si liao laaa...

Afternoon Tea

Like, literally. Haha. Afternoon (Chinese) Tea. Geddit? GEDDIT?? HAHA. I'm so funny. Haha. Haha. Haha. *sips tea like a professional tai-tai with little finger up in the air at a 90º angle* Mmmm.... this is the life. Too bad I'm doing this tai-tai-sipping-tea nonsense alone. HAHA. *loser* Wth.

p/s: I blame the fickle weather for this bout of temporary insanity. I really do. Hot, cold, hot, cold until siao liao. -_-

Why It Sucks To Have A Wedding A Couple Of Months After The Royal Wedding

Why? Cos there's, like... I dunno... A LOT of expectation to live up to?? I mean, how the heck do you top a ROYAL WEDDING watched by BILLIONS of people ALL OVER THE WORLD, that costs just about every lung, limb and liver anyone could ever sell??? It's impossible!!

*stress die me*

And don't tell me nobody compares, okay. EVERYBODY compares. In the same way that people compare Kate's sense of style to Diana's. (Poor her.) And the same way people compare Will's balding head to his daddy's. (Poor him. HAR HAR. =p) Sure will compare wan. Take tonight for instance. Over dinner, my future MIL asked:

Future MIL: Eh, Pam! Did you watch the wedding??

Pam Song: Yeah, I did!!

Future MIL: Kate Middleton's wedding gown very nice hor?

Pam Song: Yeah! So much better than Diana's!

Future MIL: So, is yours so nice ah?

Pam Song: @_@ *blink blink* Urm... *gulp* *crickets*

Whoaaa... Talk about piling on the pressure, man! Haha. Believe you me, I could sell everything I've ever owned still come up short with the payment for Middleton's dress. Would probably only have enough to pay for one lacy sleeve and maybe half a petticoat. HAHA.

I LIE.

My wedding gown will sooo kick Waity-Katy Middleton, princess-in-waiting Catherine's gown's behind, okayyy. ...Once I find it, that is. @_@ *gulp* *crickets*

My Kind Of Friday Night

Ahhh, finally some time to kick back, rest and relax. Just what I need at the end of a long week and on the onset of a long weekend. Have a great weekend, folks!

In Yer Face!

Got bored with the old header and wanted
something a little louder and bolder in place of it. =)

Putting The ROYAL Into "Royal Wedding"

And this is how you do it RIGHT. =p

Yes, with the red carpet and royal guards. Haha.

Miss You Much!!

Duh Roads and I on 20 February 2010.

I'm referring to that smelly old pillow I used to hug all day long, every single day, all through my 3-year-plus stint at MCKL, by the way. Yes, the very one I always used but never once washed. Hmmm... I wonder where it is now. Must have somehow misplaced it during the shift up to Penang. Sigh. I miss it soooo much.

*shifty eyes*

HAHAHA. Aiyo, ok lah, ok. Next in line on the Missing-You Scale after my super faithful chao pillow is that girl sitting next to me in that pic. I kiiinda miss her, too. A bit a bit lah. =p

Reason To Shop

Look. At. That. Just look at that! That, my friends, is the US economy's gift to us Ringgitiers. After so many years of just longing and lusting after what we can see but can't have, our time is finally here! This is our moment! For there is no better time than this to online shop in US sites! Hahaha. eBay! Amazon! Sephora! Kate Spade! Gah! Time to shop, shop, shop and buy, buy, buy!!!

@_@

Too! Many! Exclamation marks!

50 Reasons Not To Date A Graphic Designer

I remember reading this in an ex-colleague's FB Note sometime back but somehow, I didn't think of blogging it then. Even read it to Mee before I swiftly moved on with my life and forgot about it. Haha. But today, I saw it again on alwayscuilin's blog and it stole a second truckload of nods and giggles from me so I figured, something this good is totally meant to be kept. =D

p/s: I'm no Graphic Designer by profession but I've bolded whatever the artsy side of me agrees with. =p

1. They are very weird people. (Not bolded. Denial kau kau.)
2. There are billions of them in the world, like colors on the screen of your computer.
3. They will analyse conversations in layers.
4. They will spend the day assembling furniture from IKEA.
5. They drink and eat all kinds of weird shit just because they like the packaging.
6. They hate each other. (No la... where got... *shifty eyes*)
7. They’ll be the last one out of the movies because they have to see the full list of credits.
8. They can't change a light bulb without making a sketch.
9. They f*** up all the tables with their cutters.
10. They would rather study the paisley pattern on your outfit than listen to what you have to say.
11. They will fill your house with magazines and whatever is out there that has drawings.
12. You never know if it is really an original or a copy. (NYEH HEH HEH.)
13. They make collages with your photos.
14. They do not know how to add and subtract, they just understand letters.
15. They idolize people nobody knows and speak of them as if they were their colleagues.
16. They take pictures almost daily and all are cut in weird shapes.
17. They ask your opinion about everything but they do whatever they want.
18. Everything is left-justified, right or center unless they arrive late.
19. They hate Comic Sans with the same passion they love Helvetica.
20. They use the iPhone for everything, because everyone has one. (So not true. Who cares if other people have one??)
21. You can not decorate the house without consulting them.
22. They steal street signs. (@_@ OMG, TIM TAMS THIS IS YOU!!!)
23. Their hands are always drawn or painted with something.
24. They buy dolls unfinished for them to paint.
25. Everything becomes something other than what it really is: cards as tickets, cards as...
26. When arguing, you will be nicknamed the OSX spinning wheel. (Not affectionately.)
27. They do not know how to dress without consulting the Pantone book.
28. They hate Excel.
29. They read comics.
30. They want to save the world with only a poster.
31. They will spend the day brainstorming.
32. On vacation they will take you to countries that you did not know existed and have no beach.
33. Museums are their second home.
34. They know more positions than the Kamasutra.
35. They can’t go to a restaurant without secretly critiquing the menu design. (Haha, this is so me! =p)
36. They listen to music you have never heard of.
37. They can't cook a normal dish, they always have to experiment with new ingredients.
38. They read rare books: Stories of children, Semiotics...
39. When they are going to tell you something, everyone else has read it in their Facebook and Twitter.
40. They owned iPods before you knew they existed.
41. The orgasm they remember is when they heard that Adobe was acquiring Macromedia.
42. They have their own shops just for them, and they are the most expensive in the city.
43. They want to spend all their money in the Apple Store.
44. You will never understand their gifts.
45. They see ordinary objects and laugh.
46. You'll wake up in the middle of the night and hear them them screaming, “When is the deadline?!?” (No la, I only get up in the middle of the night to jot down ideas.)
47. They see CMYK and RGB like Neo sees the Matrix.
48. They dream of the day nobody will make a single change to their designs.
49. They rather pay for a font than for a special birthday gift.
50. They are always sleepy because they work 24/7.

Because Even Good Girls Need To Have Some Fun

Last weekend, after church, while baptism was going on in the basement 5 floors down, a bunch of girlfriends and I made plans to sing our lungs out at RedBox one night this week. Last night, specifically.

The Silencer, Barbie Girl, Teh Teh, Chatty Lass and Yours Truly.

Out of the lot of us, one lurrves to sing but has never ever been to a karaoke joint, one had never actually sung in karaoke although she has visited before, one apparently sings but absolutely refuses to sing with a mic, and two others just want to hog the mics all night long and never let go. HAHA. (No, I'm not telling you who's who. =p) O, what a messed up bunch we are!

But we had fun. Until SOMEBODY had to go home 3.5 hours before times-up cos she got curfew. Can you imagine how many million billion gazillion songs we could have sung in 3.5 hours!? Haih! That SOMEBODY ah. I'm not telling you who that SOMEBODY was lah. And I'm not naming that SOMEBODY's name. But now you know. It was S-O-M-E-B-O-D-Y.

*grin*

Anyway, to immortalise our night out, we ended up taking the pictures I published above. And then... as it always is when girls get together, massive camwhoring just very naturally ensued. =p

I dunno if it's cos we're all from different generations or what lah but... in the end, the ONLY song that all five of us could semangat-ly sing together was BSB's I'll Never Break Your Heart. -_- We even stood up and did the necessary super feeeeel boyband moves. -_-''' Wah, luckily no waiter walked in on us singing that, man. Or else really I cannot show my face at RedBox again. HAHAHA.

Thanks for a great night out, ladies! We shall do this again sometime! And that next time, we should probably sing in the morning or afternoon. Perhaps on a public holiday or something. That time, that SOMEBODY better dun tell me she got NOON curfew. Hahaha.

5 Girls, 3 Mics, 1 Room

It's so much fun when girls get together! =D
But more on this later. Now? SLEEP! Zzz...

Taking The Easy Way Out

After all that hype I made about the passion fruit, I decided to give up on eating it. The seeds were just far too much trouble for me to bother with. So... I just mashed everything together in the skin and made juice instead. =p

Mashed insides of the passion fruit with seeds from what I ate earlier.

Pure passion fruit juice!!

Mmmm...

So much tastier and more satisfying
than having to strip barely-there flesh off
those stubborn little black seeds. Yums! =D

No Passion For The Passion Fruit

I have like, zero patience. And my level of curiosity is that of a 3-year-old so... I terus grabbed a knife and cut open the passion fruit I had with me. =)

This fruit may look interesting on the outside but it tastes like crap and is just so ridiculously mafan to eat I think about it also I beh tahan. Having said that, I'll never buy it again. Its only redeeming factor is its juice. And that, I can get absolutely fuss-free from a bottle.

"Rushing Assignment"

That's Soya Legs skipping lunch and
doing what she calls "rushing assignment". =p

The Next Queen Of England

I've been trying my best to keep up with all the juicy goss official news on the royal wedding of Will & Kate. And while reading a piece on the members of England royalty in today's newspaper, this conversation effectively ensued.

Pam Song: Camillia won't be Queen lah. The crown will bypass her. ("At the time of their marriage five years ago, it was announced that Camilla would assume the Princess Consort title when Charles became King." - BBC UK)

Dee: How come?

Pam Song: Cos she was married before she married Charles and the people don't like her ma. She's not even called Princess, man.

Mee: Yeah. She's just Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Dee: So sad. *pregnant pause*

Pam Song & Mee: ???

Dee: Even our dog can be called Princess.

Pam Song & Mee: *blink blink* HAHAHAHAHA.

True story, my friends. True story.

Can Somebody Please Tell Me What The Heck This Is? Cos I Have Absolutely No Idea.

In the mean time, I shall use it as a camwhore prop.

It's unbelievably light.

And it doesn't smell sweet, sour or anything at all.

So?? What is it!?

In this fast-paced world we live in, I am now assured that we are moving forward. Yep. We're on our way to achieving Wawasan 2020, alright. Malaysia boleh.

Let Go And Let Live

In recent weeks, I believe I've been living with what I'd consider more than the everyday person's fair share of unhappiness, discontentment and disappointment. I wake up feeling unhappy, I go through the day feeling discontented, then I go to bed feeling disappointed. And I really don't know what to do about it. =(

I occupy my mind and fill my time with people and things I hope against hope are able to chase my blues away. But still the feelings stay. In fact, they go stronger every day. So strong that they wear me out; tire me out. Sigh. I'm tired. Tired of the mountain of pretence I live with. Tired of always having to watch my back. Tired of never knowing what to expect... Just. Tired.

So I blog. To keep myself sane, to occupy myself, and to steal my weary mind away from the many things and thoughts that plague it. And I read blogs. Cos they help to do the same. And tonight, I think I may have just stumbled upon the solution to my first-world problems.

Keep what's important, throw out all the rest. Got it.

Some People Say It's Cute...

I consider it freaky and would totally
classify it as borderline child abuse. Watch.

I mean, don't get me wrong... it's a-m-a-z-i-n-g. They're amazing! But still... the whole enchilada is just freaky as hell. And it's gotta be considered some form of child abuse. I mean, come on... if making kids sew shoes in a Nike factory is bad, this has gotta be somewhere on par. Imagine what such playing and the many hours of practice has done to their iddy-biddy kindergarten fingers!! @_@

Chivalry Vs. Feminism

I think it's pretty clear what the girls want.
Chivalry FTW!! FO SHO.

None The Wiser

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" – that's what the wise always say. But the foolish? Well, they let themselves be fooled over and over and over again... and are still none the wiser after. Sigh. Time to wise up and be a fool no more. Especially after so long and so many fool-me incidences I've accumulated under my belt, I really should have known better. Shame on me.

Kena Bomb!

Awesome news: The Couple's getting married a couple of weeks after The Fiancé and I, and I couldn't be happier for the two of them! But even though they'll be tying the knot after us, they're faster! Swifter! Speedier! Haha. Cos last Friday, they dropped their bomb on us! Before we even sent ours out to print! Talk about being efficient, man... I can tell these two are going to start popping babies fast – probably before the wedding gown even comes back from the dry-cleaners! HAHA.

I really liked that their card wasn't at all like the usual wedding cards that come through my mailbox. In fact, it looked so much like a regular card that I wondered, "Why the heck is 'Pam Song & Partner' written on the envelope above the address!?!" I mean, none of my friends would write to the both of us, right? And especially not via snail mail. Haha. But as it turns out, it was The Couple...

Those are birds in the blurry foreground!!

...inviting us to share in the joy
of their big day with them! =)

Haha. First time I've seen my name and
the word "hubby" in the same sentence. =p

Dear Love Birds,

We'll be there! Wishing you all the best as you journey toward
wedded bliss and may you always be so madly in love. =)

XOXO,
Pam Song

Motion/Kinetic Typography FTW!

If I were to have had a wedding video invitation instead of a hardcopy one, it would totally have been prepared in this manner. After all, who needs pictures when you've got great fonts to play with, right? *grin* Gooo, text illustration, typography animation and motion/kinetic typography 4-evaaa!!! =D

Stewie Griffin from Family Guy by KeyframeHolder

Off To The Printers

After months and months (and months and months) of dilly-dallying over our formal invitations, I'm proud to say that today, they finally go into print! The paper is here, plates are ready and the films are back in hand. Wheee!

Gosh, this is so exciting! I really
can't wait to see how they come out. =D

Ding Dong

When one door closes, another one opens.

So very many things haven't gone exactly the way I planned it to be but I must say... things just have a funny way of working out in the end. Or rather, God has a funny way of working things out for me at the end of the day. =) Through this journey of wedding planning, unexpected screw-ups and mishaps have been a little more frequent than control-freak-me would like them to be. Till today, my white gown has been doing its best to hide-and-seek me to death. Our informal pre-wedding photoshoot didn't happen. Our honeymoon location got trashed. Everything that could go wrong went wrong so badly that I really dunno what else can go wrong anymore. *slaps self* CHOI! Talk nonsense!

But here's where it gets pretty around here:
When God closes one door, He opens another. =)

BRIDAL GOWN TURNAROUND: I fell in love with a gown late last year but it was just too old and too worn out for me to justify having. And a replica couldn't be made cos of its impossibly special, can-only-be-found-in-Korea material. *rolls eyes* So I continued hunting for others that at least looked kinda-sorta like it. But apparently, those don't exist in all of Malaysia cos I found none! Like, NONE! At all! Not in Penang, not in KL, and not even online. And I hunted for it for 6 months! Until I started thinking, "Sigh. It's not meant to be lah. Time to just settle for a not-quite-the-same replica." But after some thought and some fashion observation this weekend, I realised... It was totally meant to be that I couldn't have the gown I initially fell in love with! Why? Cos it ain't that great after all! (Sorry lah, tough explaining here without letting the cat out of the bag. -_-''') Bottom line is this: I don't want what I wanted anymore. And what I want now, is sooo much better. =D

HONEYMOON TURNAROUND: We initially thought of Japan for our honeymoon (or rather The Fiancé did and I just went along for the ride without actually being all for it) but then disaster struck. Because of that, we've had to have a change of plans. (No, we hadn't bought or tickets yet so no losses there.) I knew I preferred some place cool (temperature-wise) and romantic but places like those are tough to find while the North was going through its Summer months. So, things really weren't looking up for me on the honeymoon front. But last night, The Fiancé suggested another place that initially crossed my mind and now, I can actually say that this next place we've set our hearts on is quite THE place for me. Sure, like Japan, it's not exactly known for being a romantic honeymoon location but it's cold in July, and the snow will totally make it scenic and romantic. Plus like, YAY, I GET TO SEE SNOWWW!! =D

There have been so many other instances along this journey toward wedded bliss that I can testify to experiencing the touch of God's hand upon the bleakest and most impossible situations I've had to face but... hey, I shan't bore you with the details nor tell you so much that you find yourself with nothing else to expect by the time you attend our wedding (if you're invited). =p All that matters is this: When God closes one door, He opens another. So if anything, be thankful for that. Happy Easter Sunday, guys. =)

Hiyashi, Tiam Tiam and I with our Smarties Mini.

I dunno lah but maaayy-beee Tiam Tiam thought that Hiyashi and I could do with a little bit of extra "smarts" to help us out during the this morning's big presso. Maybe that's why the Smarties Mini were our early-morning gifts from him. HAHA.

Big Day Today

Cos of big, fat presentation. So big and so fat that we had an equally as big and fat farewell from the rest of the big, fat staff (HAHA – kidding =p) at KRPG before we left for our presentation. Look!

Soya Legs bidding us goodbye with a wave,
with Suki, Tiam Tiam & Big Calculator behind her.

But more on this later.
Day's over!! Whoopieee!
Time to shop in peace. HAHA.

Difference Between KL Traffic Jam And Penang Traffic Jam

Traffic may be bad in KL during peak hours.
But in Penang? It's a million times worse.

We're an island of one-way-streets (Note: I said "streets" not "highways". That means two lanes max, but there's usually a bottleneck leading into just one lane around every corner. -_-) so getting from one place to another often involves swiftly changing lanes about a million times over. And over and over again. On super small and uber narrow roads where nobody gives way to anybody and everybody cuts in and out without signalling. In short, there is pretty much zero form of order, system or organisation. Bikes are everywhere, everybody potong barisan right, left and center, everybody drives like their grandfathers own the roads, and everybody forgets that their cars come with a pair of blinkers. Nobody obeys road signs, or follows any lanes or lines, and nobody pays heed to yellow boxes. Just like the pemandu lembu folk below:

Massive jams on the island last weekend.

Welcome to Penang. =p

Mid-Afternoon Snack

Mango from a Tree + Salt + Sugar

= DIY Mango Jeruk!!!

But this fruity/healthy/yummy mid-afternoon snack would not have been possible without Jun-Jun's tangan panjang (literally and simpulan bahasa-ly) and McDonald's. So... credits to them! =p
