I Finally Got My Invite! YAY! But I Hate 6pm Like I've Never Hated 6pm Before. BOO!

Two days ago, I finally received the long-awaited invite I was lusting over. The one that I gleefully wrote in for nearing the end of last month. (Read my Fishing My Way To Made Of Honour post for more background info.)

The one that'll officially give me my very own LIMITED EDITION e-ticket to an entrance pass (40 seats available only, okayyy) to the FREE dinner-performance-movie thingy that's organised by Nuffnang and Hong Leong Bank.

The one that will (hopefully) open doors to 'a night of fatness' via a FREE delectable 8-course dinner at the JW Marriott KL. The one that will give me a reason to dress up in an evening gown. (Pfft. Like I even have one.)

The one that will bring me one step closer to enjoying a night out in town, that is said will throughly delight and thrill my senses (while tickling my funny bone, I'm sure) with FREE performances and entertainment.

The one that will give me a FREE sneak preview to the movie Made of Honour, at my ultimate, most favouritest cinema in the whole of KL, PJ and Selangor – GSC Pavilion KL!

Ahhh, so nice to see the word FREE
so many times in so many paragraphs.

Makes my kiam siap Penangite heart flutter.

*smiles*

Check out my invite below:

Nice, right? Wrong. Look closer.

WTH!? 6PM??? Hello, that's like barely halfway through my work-day! How la now??? Thing is, these *points below* are the details as were provided in the Nuffnang blog post earlier (I'm not going to bother with a screenshot for this one):
Date : Thursday, 12th June 2008
Venue: JW Marriott KL Ballroom
Attire : Formal, Suit, Evening Gown
Time : 7.00 pm (sharp)

See that pretty, pretty "7.00 PM (SHARP)" there? Well, it ain't there now! (Okay, fine, it's still there in the blog post. It's just not in the latest communications they've sent.) The event's been pushed forward by an hour. A whole hour! And that's a whole hour too early for meeee!!! AARRRGGHHHH!!!

I tell you, the timetable seems to have been made with college and uni students in mind, lah. Working people how to go? Most people finish work at 5.30pm. Even if they leave immediately after, I doubt they'd be able to arrive in time for the event to START at 6pm SHARP. What with the mad KL/PJ jam and all, you know?

So... that kinda means that in order to enjoy the FREE stuff they've dangled in front of you, they're kinda expecting some sort of sacrifice on your part, too. Like how? Like you taking half the day off lah! Summore what?! Haiyo... See? Good things never really come free wan. (This is one of the rare times my jaded-ness pays off. Heh.)

But but but... WAH. Take half day off just to eat big dinner and watch free movie? A bit hard, right? Sure die painful death cos kena strangle by boss while being stabbed by colleagues with hundreds of blunt 2B pencils. Sigh. Tough lah, this one. Real tough.

AND, since nobody under 18 is going to be allowed entry (something about alcoholic beverages being served, based on what I can remember – which is not much), there also won't be anybody in highschool present. Hmmm. Let's say people graduate at 21 and start working at 22. Based on this info, I think I can safely assume that the only people who will COMFORTABLY be able to make it for the event are those within the 18 - 21 age bracket.

Sigh. I'm torn. And disappointed. Ingatkan can tengok-tonton, main-makan-minum FREE free Khamis ini. Sigh. All that mindless clicking on a fake sea of blue screen gone to waste. Sat, you win. =(

UPDATE at 12:23am on 12 June 2008: Robb called this afternoon. Crisis management, I think. Haha. Not bad. Those guys work fast. Heh. Anyways, I'll give you the details when I'm less tired, alright? Stay tuned for the juice. Right now cannot. Sure die. Am beat, totally tired out, and I've got a headache that just won't let up so... nights!

– I'm not really bothered about what they wanna do during the first hour. And I wouldn't mind missing it. Even if it's the food. My problem is that they're closing the doors! =(

Wish I was invited. Then again, even if I'm available that day, it's impossible to reach there by 6 after work :p

hahaha rants after rants. but i am pretty sure after reading this entry the people over at nuffnang might just be a bit flexible for those who are working. all this while i assumed this event was gonna be on a saturday and not thursday -_-"

Cheh....no gentlemen la the event organizer..

ATTN: narrowband
– That's the problem. I think the timing isn't very good lor. But... I believe it's also not Nuffnang who are planning the thing. They're just driving the bloggers there. Not the organisers I guess. I think they'd know how difficult it is to get into KL at 6pm. Haih. Not sure also lah.

You didn't join?

ATTN: Satkuru
– Ooo, I doubt it though. I don't think they're the ones controlling everything now. Possibly helping out only? Anyway, not nice also lah, if the dinner start already then one by one the working ppl walk in. HAHA. So rude also.

ATTN: Satkuru
– Oh, and I was just like you! I assumed it was on a weekend! Haha. But that wan is our bad lah. Not theirs. Shouldn't have missed such details.

Well, at least Hancock is at 9.30pm so it won't be so bad. I'm sure I can reach there on time.

– Timing a bit salah lor.

PAM!

Quit ranting and complaining. Your office is in Cangkat Raja Chulan, that's like within walking distance of JW Marriott.

Walk, 10 mins. Drive, around 10 Mins too with the jam.

Geez! Some people... *sigh*

ATTN: Leon
– BABI! My office is and was never at Jalan Raja Chulan. And for goodness sakes, I work in PJ lah!

Wahaha!!! I know it's on a Thursday!
I dun mind the day, but I expect it to be 8pm actually.

*Sigh*

I have to brace thru jam from Cheras at 5pm to KL via Jalan Loke Yew which takes at least 1 hour.

And mind you,we have to change sumore, I dun wan to bring those hospital germs to the ballroom. :P
Have to disinfect kao kao..

Anyway, they say MIGHT close the door. So, hoping they would do it later.

Anyway, I strongly believe in GMT (General Malaysian Time) 1800 which means we have an allowance of 30-60 mins to be there. We are late creatures anyway. Keke...

i guess lotsa ppl here getting the wrong tot...
i got invited too
but if u read the mail again
they want us to be there at 6pm so the thing can start on time at 7PM
as u know we malaysia ppl always never punctual ...

"
Please be at J.W. Marriott Grand Ballroom by 6pm as we wish to start on time and doors might be closed after that to ensure an uninterrupted flow
of program"

as the door close mean when the thing start

if they want us to reach at 6pm
they will ask us "pls come EARLIER BEFORE 6pm, the thing start sharp n door might close"

so i guess there a missunderstood?

anyway, u can email back to robb to ask the detail or clear things out before the ranting
coz i did email him regarding dress code, he reply every mail of mine

else i duno wat's the point to blame them here if it is just missunderstood

btw, was Sat campus mate~
haha

And babi! You better steal some food back for me lor!!! 8-courses means 8 bungkus ah!!!

ATTN: yapthomas
– Haha. You have a rant, too? Amazing. This should be a nice surprise. =p

And DUN YOU DARE PICTURE PICTURE ME!!! I want the real deal!!! GRRR!

ATTN: danielctw
– Yeah, 6 IS kinda early for the working folk.

ATTN: ~YM~
– Actually, I didn't realise it was a Thursday. I just joined on the assumption that it was a weekend. My bad lah, that wan. And then... mana tau so early pula. Knowing my job, sure cannot. =(

Haha. And you see lah you! It's folk like you that FORCE folk like Nuffnang to have to bump forward the meeting time. Shame on you! (I thought got 30mins to 90mins allowance. =p)

You work in a hospital???

ATTN: Ren
– Yeah, Robb gave me a call this afternoon and clarified it with me already. Haha. Will be writing a post on that soon. Commendable follow up on their part, I must say. =)

Oh, and I rant regardless. Heh. Love em or hate em, I've ranted on them. My regulars know I'm not pissed though. I decided not to attend the event long before I wrote the post. And cos it was a Thursday. Not cos of the timing. (Though the timing was a factor, too.)

You're a big Nuffnang supporter, huh? Haha.

I probably would have attended if I worked a stone's throw away. Too bad I don't.

p/s: Sat was my primary school classmate. We sat next to each other in Std 6. =p Small world.

ATTN: - yuhhui -
– Haha. Ya lor. A bit wasted. But... the person in charge called me already! Haha. See, this is why Nuffnang rocks so much harder than any other blog advertising network. =)
