Throw 'em Away, Throw 'em All Away

Well well, it's finally come to an end. Today rounds up 2007's Annual Singleton 15-Day Tax period. Time passed so quickly. This year, those wonderful red packets just flew past me like falling leaves from pretty Autumn trees – only more painful than pretty. An amber glow that's fading as the darkness of angpow-less days creep in.

Aih. It's a sad day indeed. And what do we do to celebrate it? We throw mandarin oranges into the sea in search of potential mates. Heh. Are we stupid or what? How much sadder can we get, man?

Aiya, wake up la.

In today's world, it's just a nice way to say...

THIS IS YOUR FINAL CALL
FOR YOU TO GET RID OF
YOUR LEFTOVER MANDARIN ORANGES!

Heh.

You better pray you don't get caught and fined for littering.

*blink blink*

Now go away and leave me to mourn
the lack of red joys in days to come.

Have a Happy Chap Goh Meh.

p/s: I can't wait for 2008's Annual Singleton Tax period to come around. Am I terrible or what? Sigh.

Haha. You think they WANT to give us money for free? I don't think so man. It's only cos they've been conditioned to do so. If they had a choice, they'd defy tradition. Sure wan. They'd make us work for those blasted red packets. So no fun.

Yeah yeah. Keep living in denial. You're fortunate the Chinese custom is in your favour. Haha.

days like these i'm grateful that i'm male by birth hahaha ..n of course man by choice ..1,2,3 YES!

Wait a minuteeeee. I didn't say Chinese custom in that sense also! What I meant was that you'll keep getting angpows as long as you're married. Nothing to do with any pro-boy-baby custom!!! Goodness! 1, 2, 3... BOO!

hahahaha it WAS true ..now onli a certain ppl actually follow that custom... most ppl nowadays boy or girl doens't matter liao ... but of course there's the favourite one lah ehehehe

You'd be surprised. Quite a number of families still prefer boys. It's just that they don't kill their girls in their quest for a male child. Haha. (Thank God for that change in mindset.) I think it's upbringing. If ones family tells that having a male child is better and blah blah blah, the children tend to grow up with that worldview, too. It's conditioning la. Bad bad conditioning. Hmmph! I object!!!

phew ...thankfully not among my family nor relatives ... better yet i think all my younger *n i mean very young* female cousins sayang by n uncles and aunties until hangus berbau already hahahaha

wei can really say lah tinki that ppl prefer girls to boys be cos of tradition ...i remember when i was younger i ask my mum why i dun have a sister (yes yes i'm sister deprived) and that i wanted one ... my mum said that my dad didn't want to ... not that he prefer boys over girls ...from what i remember she said my dad was afraid of the heart break that might occur like married the wrong kinda guy ... either that or he has a soft spot for girls ... sigh i think i got that from dad

Haha. Your female cousins "hangus berbau"? Need to say until liddat ah? Haha. Jealous issit? =p I think it's cos girls are somewhat easily likable as opposed to guys, maybe. And easier to memanjakan girls than guys.

Cheh. Guys can also find wrong girls wat. And that'd be worse! Cos the woman is usually the one who mother's the child. Takkan your parents want their grandchildren to be taken care of by some lousy girl meh? No wat. So get girl also good cos you get to make sure you teach her well and your bloodline is taken care of well.

So... Softhearted huh. You better watch out. Your daughter will KNOW. Haha. She'll so wrap you around her little finger.
